About Us

It’s Nice to Meet You!

I’m Janine. I’ve weathered a few storms of my own, and I love helping others as they find their way through the painful experiences that are often a part of life.

I recently navigated a year-long stage 3 cancer experience, and I know about healing.

I believe that the body, mind, and emotions must be in balance in order to achieve health and a sense of peace and well-being.

Sometimes we all need to reach out in a safe, confidential and supportive space.

I love meeting each and every one of my clients. Helping others feel and process emotions and manage difficult symptoms of trauma, anxiety and depression is one of the things that brings my life purpose.

I believe in working with the whole person, and in my own quest for balance and wellness, I recognize the needs of body, mind and spirit. As a cancer survivor I have extensive experience in medical trauma and this lived experience helps to infuse my work with an understanding of how we all can heal, grow and thrive – from the inside out!

I help people get to the root of their symptoms or problems.

If you are experiencing symptoms of burnout or PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), you may be fatigued, anxious, irritable, or finding it difficult to connect with others and feel joy.

We need to dig below the surface and address the real issues that are causing these problems.

Are there things in your life that need to be changed? Do you need to learn to set boundaries? Do you need to learn how to rest, or feel and deal with emotions? Do you have unresolved trauma that needs to be processed?

Together, we will explore what is happening and help you get started on your healing experience.

My Qualifications

I specialize in helping others heal and process trauma, and I have been doing this work for 14 years now in both public and private spheres.

I am currently completing extra consultation and training so that I can attain the next level in my EMDR registration. I make use of evidence-based modalities and strategies to help treat individual clients in my practice.

I have a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (#14374) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I also have a Naturopath Designation from the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada (ACNN #21-6631) and I am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist registered with EMDRIA. Furthermore, I have completed extra training for working with first responders, police and the military.

I enjoy staying up-to-date on new research in the field of psychology, and I am always learning. I continuously upgrade my skills through professional development opportunities and I incorporate a number of complimentary therapeutic approaches into my practice.

I am a cancer patient advocate and I am fortunate to be a member of the Public Interest Research Group on Cancer. As you can see from my blog, I write about the effects of cancer treatment on mental health among other things.

I was recently interviewed on the Dr. Mike Wahl show about my own cancer experience. You can jump to the 21 minute mark in the interview below to hear my interview.
